MSc defence by three UNU-GTP Fellows

During the second week of April, three UNU-GTP MSc Fellows defended their MSc thesis at the University of Iceland. 

University of Iceland.  The first one was Mr. Hary Koestono on Monday April 12th, whose thesis on geology is entitled “Lahendong geothermal field, Indonesia: Geothermal model based on wells LHD-23 and LHD-28”.  His supervisor was Dr. Hjalti Franzson and the external examiner Dr. Thráinn Fridriksson.

The next one was Mr. Yohannes Lemma Didana who defended his thesis: “Multidimensional inversion of MT data from Krýsuvík high-temperature geothermal field, SW-Iceland” on Wednesday, April 14.  His superviors were Mr. Gylfi Páll Hersir and Mr. Knútur Árnason, and the external examiner Dr. Hjálmar Eysteinsson.  Yohannes is the first geophysisist to complete a MSc degree under a UNU-GTP MSc Fellowship.

The third one was the geologist Mr. Kiflom Gebrehiwot, who defended his thesis on April 16 with the title: “Subsurface gelology, hydrothermal alteration and geothermal model of northern Skarðsmýrarfjall, Hellisheidi geothermal field.” Kiflom’s supervisor was Dr. Hjalti Franzson and the eternal examiner, Dr. Árný Erla Sveinbjörnsdóttir.

All five of the MSc Fellows that started in the autumn 2008 have now completed their MSc defence.
