High-level Indonesian delegation visits UNU-GTP
On August 10, a high-level Indonesian delegation led by Dr. Agus Hermanto, Vice Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia visited UNU-GTP. The delegation also included eight other members of the Indonesian Parliament, Ambassador and staff of the Indonesian Embassy, and various staff and experts from the Parliament, the Ministry of Energy and Resources, Pt. Pertamina, Pt. Geo Dipa Energi, Pt. Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN), Pt. Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (SMI), as well as other entities, media representatives and facilitators. The meeting was addressed by Dr. Gudni Jóhannesson, Director General of Orkustofnun and Chairman of the UNU-GTP Board, Dr. Hermanto on behalf of the delegation, Mr. Ingimar G. Haraldsson, Deputy director of UNU-GTP, Dr. Páll Valdimarsson and Mr. Gylfi Páll Hersir, both members of the UNU-GTP Studies Board.
Fellows from Indonesia have been trained in the 6 month training programme since 1982, with 29 having completed the studies and 3 presently enrolled. One member of the delegation, Mr. Tafif Azimudin, Corporate Secretary of Pt. Pertamina Geothermal Energy, completed the programme in 1995 and it was a special pleasure to welcome him back on this occasion. Five Indonesians have also received support for MSc studies, with four having completed and one presently working on the thesis.
In the meeting, both sides expressed a desire for continued and expanded cooperation.
