Graduation of Class 2008
Since the first UNU Fellows of the UNU-GTP came for training in 1979, 402 scientists and engineers from 43 countries have completed the annual six
month courses. Of these, 44% have come from countries in Asia, 26% from Africa, 15% from Central and Eastern Europe, and 15% from Latin America. Amongst these 67 have beenwomen (17%).
At the graduation ceremony speeches were given by Dr. Ingvar B. Fridleifsson, Director of the UNU-GTP,
Ambassador Greta Gunnarsdottir from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, and Fahmi Hamim Dereinda, an
environmental scientist from Pertamina, Indonesia, who spoke on behalf of the graduating Class. Ambassador Greta Gunnarsdottir presented the graduates with their UNU Certificates.
