Graduation of Class 2007
Since the first UNU Fellows of the UNU-GTP came for training in 1979, 380 scientists and engineers from 41 countries have completed the annual six month courses. Of these, 44% have come from countries in Asia, 26% from Africa, 16% from Central and Eastern Europe, and 14% from Latin America. Amongst these have been 62 women (16%).
Speeches were given by Dr. Ingvar B. Fridleifsson, Director of the UNU-GTP, Dr. Össur Skarphéðinsson, Minister of Industry and commerce, and Yohannes Lemma Didanaa geophysicist from Ethiopia who spoke on behalf of the graduating UNU Fellows. Dr. Össur Skarphéðinsson presented the graduates with their UNU Certificates.
