Geothermal diploma course for Latin America to be held in El Salvador
UNU-GTP, LaGeo and the University of El Salvador (UES) will be conducting the Geothermal Diploma Course for Latin America in El Salvador from June 26 to December 1. The five month course is intended for aspiring and early career Spanish speaking geothermal professionals in Latin America and continues the tradition of geothermal diploma courses that have been held at UES in the past years. The course is the second offering in a two year project funded by the Nordic Development Fund through facilitation by the Icelandic Ministry for Foreign Affairs, with additional contributions made by the implementing parties. Ten scholarships are awarded to geothermal professionals outside of El Salvador and ten to professionals in El Salvador. The diploma course consists of ten modules devoted to specific aspects of geothermal development or particular phases of the studies, and one week is reserved for student participation in Sustainable Development Goals Short Course II, to be held in early September, as part of the UNU-GTP / LaGeo short course series that were started in 2006. UNU-GTP takes an active part in the organization and management of the diploma course, as well as the selection of scholarship recipients, and three UNU-GTP lecturers will make lecture contributions to the same number of modules.
