Course on Geothermal Technology

A 13 week customer-designed „Course on Geothermal Technology“, organized by the UNU-GTP in accordance to the requirements of Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen), was concluded in Naivasha, Kenya on Friday,  July 13.  The course included lectures and practical work in Geological Exploration (2 weeks), Geophysical Exploration (3 weeks), Chemistry of Thermal Fluids and Environmental Management (2 weeks), Reservoir Monitoring (2 weeks), Drilling Technology (2 weeks), and Borehole Geology (2 weeks).  The course was well received by the 45 participants, most of whom are scientists and engineers, recently employed by KenGen.  It will be followed up by 6 month on-the-job training in Borehole Geology.  Most of the lecturers for the course came from ÍSOR – Iceland GeoSurvey but also from Mannvit consulting company.  The figure (see "Read more") shows the group of trainees with some of the teachers and KenGen management.
