Kelvin Mkwinda: GRÓ FTP Alumnus

Kelvin Mkwinda is a GRÓ Fisheries Training Programme fellow from the 2024-2025 cohort and a Fisheries Officer with the Department of Fisheries in Malawi. Based at the Mangochi District Fisheries Office, he works to advance fisheries sustainability and freshwater conservation, promoting responsible fishing practices, strengthening compliance with regulations, and supporting the long-term protection of freshwater resources through community engagement and outreach. His research at GRÓ FTP was on “Assessment of Revenue Collection in Malawian Small-Scale Fisheries: A Case of Mongochi District”.

Strengthening Geothermal Knowledge for the Energy Transition: Aura Elena Becerra Suarez, GRÓ GTP alumna

Aura Elena Becerra Suárez is a geological engineer from Colombia. She attended the GRÓ Geothermal Training Programme in 2024 and says the training programme had a big impact on her career. She works at an environmental agency serving the Boyacá region of Colombia where she focuses on the sustainable use of geothermal resources and their role in supporting energy transition in the country.

Summer Holidays Closure

The GRÓ GEST office will be closed for summer holidays from 18th July through 9th August 2026. E-mail will be monitored intermittently, but responses are generally expected after the office reopens in August.
