FTP´s holistic learning approach
GRÓ-FTP draws on a holistic approach to learning about fisheries and uses UNESCO´s model of five learning pillars to shape our educational offering to the fellows. These pillars are learning to KNOW or building fisheries knowledge and strengthening research skills, learning to DO or developing leadership and communication competencies, learning to LIVE TOGETHER or developing acceptance of diversity, cultural tolerance and interdependency, learning to BE or building empowerment to become agents of change, and finally, all pillars combine to support the fifth, and most important pillar, which is learning for a sustainable future. FTP´s nine-day fieldtrip to the north incorporates all these pillars of learning, not least in our exploration of Iceland´s history and culture and the teamwork which takes place during our time of living closely together. Here are some snapshots from our journey.
