GPG Seafood
The fellows ended the day in Húsavík at GPG Seafood, a leading fish processing company in Iceland, specialising in salted and dried fish. The fellows were met by Ágúst Már, Project Manager, and Bergur, who explained how the fish is both dried and salted. This branch of GPG Seafood in Húsavík processes traditional saltfish exporting to Spain, Italy, Greece and Portugal, and in addition processes saltfish fillets for export to Spain and Italy. Another product line is high-quality dried fish mainly for export to the Nigerian market. Ágúst Már and Bergur thoroughly described GPG´s processing methods and answered all the questions raised by the fellows on production and quality management. We thank both Ágúst Már and Bergur for devoting their time to showing the FTP fellows around the plant and giving a detailed insight into GPG Seafood’s fish processing methods.
