GRÓ LRT Welcomes New Cohort for Six-Month Training Programme

On 28 February, GRÓ LRT welcomed a new cohort of fellows to its six-month training programme at Keldnaholt Campus of the Agricultural University of Iceland.

This year’s group includes 20 professionals—10 women and 10 men—from nine countries across Africa and Asia. They represent GRÓ LRT’s partner organizations in Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Lesotho, Malawi, Uganda, Ghana, and Kenya. Notably, for the first time, fellows from Benin and South Africa have joined the programme through UNESCO’s Man and the Biosphere (MAB) network.

The fellows, all experts in their respective countries, work in fields related to ecosystem restoration and sustainable land management. Their diverse backgrounds foster transnational knowledge exchange and collaborative learning.

Since its establishment in 2007, GRÓ LRT has trained 221 professionals from 72 partner institutions across 16 countries through its annual six-month programme.

The GRÓ LRT team extends its best wishes to this year’s fellows for a successful training experience and an enjoyable stay in Iceland!
