Visiting Lecturers 2024

As part of the Six-Month Training at GRÓ GTP, an internationally renowned guest lecturer is invited most years as a Visiting Lecturer to give a lecture series and to have discussions with the current six-month fellows. Most lectures of previous Visiting Lecturers have been published by GTP and are available for download under publications.

This year, three visiting lecturers will be sharing their knowledge and experience with our fellow through lectures and discussions.  They will be giving lectures and lead discussions according to the following schedule:

October 7th, 09:00-11:00

  • Speaker: Adam Schultz (CEOAS, Oregon State University)
  • Topic: Embedding high-resolution volcanic and geothermal investigations within the footprint of the continental scale US Magnetotelluric Array
  • About the Speaker: Adam Schultz is a Professor in the Geology & Geophysics Disciplinary Group at the College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences, Oregon State University. He specializes in geophysical imaging, magnetotelluric and electromagnetic methods, renewable energy including geothermal power, and high-performance computation. He is the Principal Investigator for the US Magnetotelluric Array, directing systematic 3D mapping of the electrical resistivity structure of the USA

  • Speaker: Antoine Lochet (Elements by BBA/Fjeldco)
  • Topic: Geothermal laws and regulations, the need and pitfalls
  • About the Speaker: 

    Antoine Lochet is a Partner at Elements by BBA//Fjeldco with expertise in energy law, banking and finance, mergers and acquisitions, and project finance. He has been involved in significant legal projects, particularly in the energy sector. His work includes advising on regulatory aspects of geothermal energy and other renewable energy projects, and navigating complex legal landscapes. He has advised on legal and regulatory framework for geothermal energy in jurisdictions such as Djibouti, Comoros, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, El Salvador and Honduras

  • Speaker: Gunnar Haraldsson (Intellecon)
  • Topic: Geothermal project financing/business modelling
  • About the Speaker: Gunnar Haraldsson is the founder & CEO of Intellecon. He is an expert in geothermal project financing and business modeling. He has extensive experience in geothermal energy utilization, project management, and capacity building. Previously, he was the Economic Advisor to the Prime Minister of Iceland, economist at the OECD in Paris, director of the Institute of Economic Studies at the University of Iceland, Chairman of the Financial Supervisor Authority in Iceland, among other. Gunnar is Chairman of the Icelandic Fiscal Council and acts as president of the French-Icelandic Chamber of Commerce. He has collaborated in numerous international scientific projects and is a member of the Icelandic Science and Technology Council
